.Marlin Hatley Southern, 70 of Ft. Smith passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016. He was born June 24, 1946 in Ft. Smith to the late Charles and Virginia Southern. He was of the Catholic Faith, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, and worked in the Human Resources Department of Choctaw Casino. He was preceded in death by his brother Chuck Southern and a cousin, Joan Humphrey and her husband, Cleo.

Marlin loved taking care of others; he was always there when his aunts would become ill and had no one else to take care...

He was of the Catholic Faith, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, and worked in the Human Resources Department of Choctaw Casino. He was preceded in death by his brother Chuck Southern and a cousin, Joan Humphrey and her husband, Cleo.

Marlin loved taking care of others; he was always there when his aunts would become ill and had no one else to take care of them. His family was very special to him. Others needs always came before his.

Memorial graveside services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2016 at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.

Marlin is survived by his husband Kenny of the home, his daughter; Heather Southern and her wife Stormy of the Alma, his son Michael Southern and his wife Ashley of Van Buren, his five grandchildren; Zach, Madison, Troy, Braxton, and Alana Southern. He is also survived by his cousin Glenda Wardroup of Arkoma, OK and special friend Dolly Lester of Ft. Smith.
